Who can apply for this status?

This right applies to two types of profiles:

1. You have already been in Belgium for at least 5 years? You can apply for long-term EC resident status if you:

  • Have sufficient, regular, and stable income
  • Have health insurance
  • Do not pose a threat to public order
  • Hold a valid passport

2. You already have this status in another EU country? You can settle in Belgium if you demonstrate:

  • Sufficient resources (salaried employment, self-employed, or private income)
  • A sustainable and supervised residence project
  • Compliance with simplified procedures for EC status holders
