Family reunification
Do you want to join a family member already legally residing in Belgium?
We help you assert your family reunification rights, even if you are still abroad.
Living with a family member in Belgium is a possible right, but subject to many conditions.
The legal framework is strict and Belgian authorities examine each application with particular attention. Your file must clearly prove:
- The legal and recognized nature of the family tie (spouse, registered partner, dependent child, etc.)
- Sufficient and regular financial resources of the sponsor
- The existence of adequate housing and health coverage
- Compliance with territoriality rules for application submission
Our firm helps you build a complete, structured, and defensible file before the administration.
Who is concerned and what must be proven?
Family reunification with a third-country national applies only to certain family members provided the sponsor holds unlimited or established residence in Belgium.
Here are the profiles concerned and the evidence to provide:
Spouse / legal partner
Partnership recognized by Belgium (marriage, PACS, legal cohabitation), housing, health insurance, resources ≥ €2,131.28/month
Age < 21 years unless the marriage predates the sponsor's settlement
Child under 18 or disabled adult child
Proof of filiation and custody, medical documents if necessary
Father or mother of an unaccompanied minor refugee child
Proof of filiation and child’s situation
Depending on the situation, the application must be submitted either from abroad (via the consulate), or in Belgium under certain conditions (prior temporary residence, exceptional circumstances, etc.)
